Mary Philips M.Ed., BCBA – Clinical Director

Mary has been working with children and adolescents with ASD since 2006. She received her Master in Education from OISE at the University of Toronto in 2012 and became a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst in 2013. She is a member of ONTABA and OACCPP. Working with children and youth in a variety of agencies has provided Mary extensive experience in one to one and group learning as well as programming for individuals with significant behavioural needs. Staff training and mentoring is of particular interest for Mary and as such she has fostered highly motivated, enthusiastic, and caring teams, which seek to provide exceptional ABA programming. Mary has extensive experience in a wide range of programming including assessment, verbal, augmentative and alternative communication programming, play skills, personal care, and academics. Mary believes in developing strong working relationships with families and community partners in order to achieve the best results for her clients. When not at The Discovery Centre, Mary loves to spend time outside with her two young boys and husband.

Amina Qamar MPEd Candidate, BCaBA – Therapist/Senior Therapist

Amina has always had a desire to work in a field where she would be helping other individuals. After completing her Bachelors degree, she went to school for Behavioural Science. For the past 5 years, Amina has been in the field of IBI working with children with Autism. She has applied her expertise in multiple settings including center, school, and home settings. She recognizes the importance of early intervention and the impact it has on individuals who receive IBI. Amina is commencing her Masters of Professional Education with an emphasis on ABA starting in Fall 2019. When she is not working she enjoys going hiking, painting, and playing sports.
